Rochester Mn:
On the heels of hosting their first Spiegelhoff Classic, Minnesota West swept the Pitcher-of-the-Week and Player-of-the-Week honors in the MCAC Southern Division baseball awards process.
Nathan Arroyo, a freshman hurler who currently leads all of NJCAA Division III baseball in the strikeouts per 9 innings category, garnered the Pitcher-of-the-Week award. Arroyo scattered two hits and struck out 11 batters over a 7-inning complete game win over Northland Community & Technical College in the third game of the weekend. The freshman from Puerto Rico raised his season tally to 3-1 on the year with the victory.
Not to be outdone, BlueJay third-baseman Carlo Zorola was hot at the plate, going 5-for-9 on the weekend, including slugging out two doubles and a triple. He was equally impactful defensively, as he initiated three double plays over the four games and turned in a 1.000 fielding percentage. His strong two-way performance earned MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week recognition.
