Minnesota West Outfielder Blasts Way to Player-of-the-Week

Rochester, Mn-

Freshman outfielder Rey Torres hit for an astounding .750 average in a recent two-game series for Minnesota West, and his dominant offensive output has earned him Player-of-the-Week honors in the Southern Division of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference baseball season for the week of April 10-16.

As the DH, Torres went 6-8, with five singles and a double against the Golden Ram pitching.  While on the basepaths, he stole two bags and scored two runs, while also driving in two RBI's.  Torres hot streak reflects his Minnesota West teammates, who have six in a row and have enjoyed a 2-0 start to MCAC divisional play.

Minnesota West will next be in action on Tuesday, April 18th, when they take on the junior varsity of Dordt College.  First pitch will be tossed at 4pm.
