MCAC Baseball Post-Season Races Heat Up

Rochester, Mn-

Three MCAC baseball teams used this past weekend to distance themselves from the pack in Minnesota College Athletic Conference divisional play.

In the MCAC South, Minnesota West moved out to 6-0 divisional mark with a Friday afternoon sweep of Anoka Ramsey Community College [6-3 and 5-4].  The BlueJays added a pair of non-conference wins over the JV team at the University of Northwestern to complete their week. With the four wins, Minnesota West has won their past 10 games.  A mid-week double header against Riverland Community College - currently 4-2 in the South- will be an important match-up for the post-season picture.

The MCAC Central Division also has an unbeaten leader of the pack, with St. Cloud Technical and Community College enjoying a 6-0 divisional ledger and 24-4 overall record.   The Cyclones, currently ranked 3rd in the nation in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, are riding a 14 game winning streak and will face both Anoka Ramsey and Northland CTC in double-header action this week.

Itasca Community College solidified their standing in the Northern Division with a 10-0 mark in division play.  The Vikings boast a 22-14 overall record and completed a 4-game sweep of neighboring Hibbing Community College over the weekend.  Wednesday will be an important day for ICC, with a Northern Division showdown against Mesabi Range College scheduled for 2pm/4pm start times on April 26th.
