In Week 5 of football action in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, the Western Division teams saw two squads rise to the top of the standings with wins on Saturday, as both Dakota College-Bottineau and North Dakota State College of Science sit at 3-0.  The top performers in the West have earned Player-of-the-Week for their showings in the September 30th contests.

Special Teams Player-of-the-Week:

Wildcat kicker, Gregory Slade Jr, was called upon early and often by North Dakota State College of Science in Saturday's 43-17 win over M State on Saturday, September 30th. The kicker/punter from Milwaukee, connected on a three field goals in three attempts and went 4-of-4 on PAT's for NDSCS, en route to accounting for 13 of his squads points against the Spartans.  Slade also showed a strong leg in booting 8 kickoffs for a 52.8 average including putting two into the end-zone for touchbacks. He knocked four punts for a total of 76 yards.    NDSCS moved to 3-0 in the Eastern Division, and 4-1 overall.  Slade and his Wildcat teammates will host intrastate rival Dakota College-Bottineau in Wahpeton with the chance to take the inside lane of the Western Division race.  Slade  is 12-for-16 in field goals and 17-of-19 in PAT's for 2017. 

Defensive Player-of-the-Week: 

As they gear up for a big game against rival North Dakota State College of Science, the 'Jacks of Dakota College-Bottineau will have the Week 5 Defensive Player-of-the-Week in their ranks as they prepare for the encounter.  Defensive end Nick Madourie, of Sunrise, Florida, has earned the POW honor in the Western Division of MCAC Football.   Strong defense led to a DCB victory over Minnesota West on Saturday, and Madourie led the charge with five tackles and three sacks on the day.  He forced a fumble and five Tackles for Loss in the contest. Dakota College held MnWest, one of the most explosive offenses in NJCAA football,  to 215 total yards.  For his terrific performances,  sophomore Nick Madouire is the MCAC Football Defensive Player-of-the-Week in the Western Division. 

Offensive Player-of-the-Week: 

Northland Community and Technical College put up 38 points on Saturday in edging out Ridgewater College by a 38-35 scoreline and wide receiver Malik Williams was a major factor in the Pioneer's offensive display. The standout from Lakeworth, Florida had nine catches for 104 yards against Ridgewater.  Not only did Williams eclipse the century mark in receiving yards, he accounted for three of the NCTC touchdowns on the day.  Williams in second in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference in both the Receiving Yards and Receiving Touchdowns categories.  Northland CTC will travel to Worthington, Minnesota to take on  Minnesota West CTC next Saturday, October 7th.  Kickoff is set for 1pm.
