Wrestler-of-the-Week Honors for Two MCAC Athletes

Rochester, Mn-

A pair of great individual performances on the mat to open up 2018 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference has led to two athletes sharing the spoils of Wrestler-of-the-Week honors. 

Co-wrestlers of the week for the week ending January 8 are Mason Hawkins of Rochester Community & Technical College and Mark Voss of Ridgewater College. 

Hawkins went 3-0 at 197 pounds while representing Rochester at the NWCA National Duals Jan. 4-5. He pinned two opponents, Malik Drayton of Spartanburg Methodist and Ethan Dean of Barton Community College, and upseth fifth ranked Seth Ham of Iowa Western Community College. 
 
Voss also went 3-0 on his way to winning the 149-pound championship at the Ridgewater Open. Voss' day included a 12-2 major decision win over Kyle Green of Southwest Minnesota State in the quarterfinals; a 5-4 win over Zachary Beamaster of Southwest Minnesota State in the semifinals; and a 9-1 major decision win over John Roddick of St. Cloud State in the championship match.
