National Rankings Feature Four MCAC Women's Basketball Teams

Rochester, Mn-

Four women's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference were featured in the most recent NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Top Ten poll, including a team making their first appearance of 2017-18 on the elite list.

Rainy River Community College, currently sitting 4-0 in the MCAC Northern Division, cracked into the 'Receiving Votes' category this week, based on the strength of an upset of then-#3 Northland CTC and a dominating offensive performance in a 100-54 victory over Itasca Community College.  MCAC Player-of-the-Week Daeja Monroe hit for 45 points against ICC, setting a new school for points scored in contest.  RRCC is 11-3 overall so far in 2017-18.

Rochester CTC and Northland CTC occupy the #7 and #8 spots respectively in the January 23 poll.  RCTC is also unbeaten in Divisional play at 3-0 and have won their last three contests.  Northland suffered their first Divisional loss to Rainy River on Wednesday, 62-58.  The Pioneers had not lost a Northern Division contest since January 14, 2016, when Itasca outlasted NCTC 65-62.

Hibbing Community College also is found in the 'Receiving Votes' category of the NJCAA poll; the Cardinals are still a part of the Northern Division race at 2-2 and sport a 12-5 overall mark.  To view the full NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball weekly poll, please click here.
